Austin — Disability Rights Texas Attorney Chris McGreal has been named as a 2013 recipient of the State Bar of Texas Poverty Law Section’s Impact Award.

This honor is given to a Texas attorney or poverty law professional for a recent, significant poverty law case, decision, policy change, or other legal relief that had a broad impact on people of modest means in Texas or made a significant impact on the lives of indigent individuals in Texas by protecting, promoting, expanding, or vindicating their legal rights.

The work that led to this recognition for McGreal involves collaborative efforts with fellow award winner Sharon Reynerson, attorney at the Lone Star Legal Aid office in Paris, Texas, on behalf of several low-income individuals with disabilities in that city.

McGreal and Reynerson’s successes have increased and expanded rights for these individuals in the areas of both housing and transportation. Their work continues as they are still working on various disability-related transportation and access issues in Paris.
