Texas Winter Storm Recovery Resources – Immediate Relief
The Texas Winter Storm Recovery Resources includes information and resources designed to help Texans recover from the storm. This handout provides information about organizations that address damage to your home, provide information about financial issues, offer crisis counseling, and more.
Crisis CleanUp
Crisis CleanUp is a national nonprofit organization that has now opened a Home Cleanup Hotline to support survivors of the winter storm. Survivors needing assistance with fallen trees, removal of carpet, flooring, appliances, roof tarping, or mold mitigation can call 1-844-965-1386. Services are free but not guaranteed due to demand and are available until March 5, 2021.
Local Relief Funds and Recovery Groups
The OneStar Foundation’s Winter Storm 2021: How to Help Texans Recover includes information about local relief funds and nonprofits that can help you. The resource also includes information about Long Term Recovery Groups (LTRG). These groups, also known as recovery committees or organizations, organize the money, people power, and materials that help a community recover from a disaster.
National Disaster Distress Helpline
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) offers a Disaster Distress Helpline. You can call 1-800-985-5990 any day of the year, 24 hours a day. The hotline provides immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster.
This toll-free, multilingual, and confidential crisis support service is available to all residents in the United States and its territories. Stress, anxiety, and other depression-like symptoms are common reactions after a disaster. Call or text 1-800-985-5990 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.
