Mary Faithfull, Executive Director

First and foremost, Disability Rights Texas wants you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The devastation caused throughout our state is overwhelming, and yet we are amazed by and thankful for the outpouring of assistance from the whole nation.

We are relieved to report that all of our staff who live in the path of the storm are safe, though some have incurred damage to their homes. Our office in mid-town Houston is closed until at least September 5, and fortunately, it has not sustained any damage so far.

One of highest concerns right now is for the safety and well-being of all people with disabilities affected by the disaster. We are already making plans to ensure their rights remain protected and that we address the unique disability rights issues arising because of this crisis. You will be hearing more from us about our plans in the weeks to come.

If you are currently experience a disability rights issue, please call one of our intake specialists who are waiting to assist you at 1-800-252-9108. This non-emergency line is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Though we will continue to face difficult times in the next several weeks and months as we recover, DRTx wants to assure you we are committed to doing all we can to help.
